28th January John Tsalavoutas Training Showing Show

*********************************************************************************************************

Riders Please be aware!!

Horse-Jacking Please be on the look out all the time. The green golf was spotted at the entrance of Linbro this weekend again.

The police were alerted.

At dog training on Sundays at the library grounds there are shots fired for dog training. The rule is that there should be a red flag posted by the gate. Which we will be requesting. So should you see the flag please be aware that gun shots will be fired.

We had a wonderful evening with Dr Wolgang Sapth from Seeis Stud  in Namibia giving us a invaluable in sight of the warmblood being bred in Namibia now. They have changed their thinking with one stallion loose with all the mares. They now bring them in to be bred with selected Stallions, which are new imported bloodlines, creating a stronger and more versatile warm blood. Should anyone be interested in looking at his stock there is a local lady that has all the information and videos of the babies. Montanique is based in the south and will let you know the prices and can organise everything for you. His farm is 10km out of town so one can fly into Windhoek and then see the horses and fly out all in a days work. Transport down is also organized by them which is about R2000.00 with all the paper work, if you wait until they have a load to bring down. Otherwise the transporting will be a lot more. The Dr is a very knowledgeable man being brought up with horses all his life and hi Dad owning a stud farm himself. His horse are all backed before they sold. They also have a facility to train your young stock at a nominal cost to a level ready to enter a show. Which is great. Saves you the months of bringing on your youngster.

Ryobi Challenge:

Our last Ryobi Challenge went very well and had a wonderful turnout. We would really like to thank Ryobi for making this years challenge series such a success. We will also be installing the irrigation for the dressage arenas over the break so we will be ready to run the new season. Thanks so much Ryobi.

******************************************************************************

Our Birthday Bash: was very small but a great success all the people that joined us had a great time. Next year we are planning more club functions that we can all get to know one another. We all ride here won’t it be nice on an outride you know the person coming towards you and you can greet them. Riding is sociable as a small community we really are quiet unsocial able.

Alert @Linbro.co.za

I’m not sure whether you are aware of the recent crime spate that is going on in Linbro Park. There is a email address alert@linbro.co.za if any member of the Linbro Park community see anything suspicious.

However after chatting to Nic since most of us would be on horse back and should we spot anything who should we contact.

Well everybody take this cell number down. 084 608 2026 should any of us see anything please sms the problem, car, colour make, registration to this number and it will be acted on. Nic has also informed us he will be organizing  sms alert system for us riders.

Please if everybody assits we can make Linbro a safer area for us to ride/drive in.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks Nic for all your effort to make the area safe.

We are putting pressure on Pikitup to do a cleanup of the rubbish heaps in Linbro Park.  Jenny has phoned them, including Dave Harris, several times without result and is about to go to the MD and to the mayor.  I run my dogs in that area and on Sunday they picked up some fetid carcasses amongst the waste, so this is a health hazard as well.  I do not want to use alert for this sort of thing but, once the teething problems of alert are over, I am thinking of establishing an “environment” service that will include Pikitup and a great number of the Joburg Metro Officials, health, town planning, as well as the newspapers, environmental protection groups, DWAF, DEAT and Gauteng Dept of Agriculture and the environment.

Also plaguing us is the parlous state of progress on the dump rehabilitation and the invasion of flies from this source.

The roads situation is another.

In the meanwhile, I am copying this email to Fabiola Holburn who is in touch with the riders and asking her input.

1st Reply:

some of the horse riders and other community members are keen, I think we should all come together on a Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon (when it is not too hot) and do a bit of a clean up. I will be happy to help... I am not sure how many people actually ride in the dump or along the borders... It might be an idea to organise a community outride to get riders aware of the area one Saturday and then clean up what we noticed that afternoon or next morning?

There are so many riders that do not live in Linbro that ride horses here and they depend on the residents to keep all facilities nice and clean and safe... I am sure if the various riding yards get their livery clients and school pony riders to get involved for one day, we would be able to make a big difference!

Maybe someone with a tractor will help us with cutting the long grass at certain areas to make a track or two for horse riders.

Oh well those are my ideas, it is easy to give ideas - more difficult to put them into action... let me know if there is anyway I can help.

Ciao

Thanks Anja
